Hi there, I'm Kim, I'm super stoked to meet you! 〰️
A little personal moment
I currently live in Seattle, WA. Outside of the UX realm, you can find me hiking or up at the mountains during the winter season snowboarding. Out on the road casually running whenever the weather permits it (when it’s not raining). I also like to try out different coffee shops, traveling, and or going to plant stores. Sometimes this results in me adopting new plant babies.
My experiences and how it helps me in my designs
My experience interacting with customers/patients and my degree in health studies has shaped me into the designer that I am today, which is analytical and logical. But also empathetic and human-centered. All of these together helps inform the design decisions that I make.
With my background in health, I’m able to take those skills that I gained from research and apply it to a different field. Instead of researching inanimate objects, I’m able to research using users and their experiences/thoughts. I love talking to users and understanding their perspectives. I am a naturally curious person so I will pick at the user’s brain until I am able to answer the most important question of why.
I like to keep the people that I’m designing for as my focal point and look for creative solutions to the problems. This is done through holistic thinking and methodology approaches
Before I found my passion for UX Design
Growing up Asian American, I had this mindset that my parents wanted me to pursue a career in healthcare so I graduated from the University of Washington with a major in Biology. Throughout school, I used art as a stress reliever, from drawing, to painting, and to photography. Everyone and even myself considered me as a creative.
Fast forward to graduation, I ended up at a job in the healthcare field where I was in the grey zone of being happy and being unhappy. So what did I do? I took the plunge and enrolled in a UX bootcamp. And let me tell you, it was worth it.
